To investigate the chemical composition of 70% ethanol Tinospora crispa extracts, 19 compounds were ultimate⁃
ly isolated using normal and reverse column chromatography, as well as semi-preparative HPLC. Their structures were de⁃
termined through 1
H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. The compounds were identified as β-sitosterol (1), makisterone C
(2), 6β-hydroxystigmast-4-en-3-one (3), cycloeucalenol (4), apigenin (5), syringaresinol (6), 6-hydroxyhexan-oic acid ethyl
ester(E)-ferulate (7), (E)-ferulicacid (8), erythro-guaiacylglycerol-β-O-4΄-coniferyl ether (9), threo-guaiacylglycerol-β-O-
4΄-coniferyl ether (10), vomifoliol (11), loliolide (12), methylparaben (13), vanillic acid (14), vanillin (15), syringaldehyde
(16), syringic acid (17), p-hydroxybenzaldehyde (18), p-hydroxybenzoic acid (19). Compounds 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16 and
17 were isolated from this plant for the first time. The activity of p-nitrophenyl-D-glucopyranoside was tested, and the in⁃
hibitory activity of 50 μmol/L these compounds on glucosidase was less than 50%. |
